Caitlin Baggott Takes Over Bus Project Leadership

The Bus Project, the Oregon non-profit that has registered young voters, thrown great parties and acted as a springboard for a number of progressive politicians—has a new leader.

She's Caitlin Baggott, who's worked at the Bus for a number of years, most recently as its strategic director and leader of the group's leadership training program.

Given that background, her ascension isn't much of a surprise.

Baggott takes the helm from Jefferson Smith, the founding leader of the Bus Project and a Democrat currently in his second term representing east Portland in the Oregon House.

While the Bus Project has developed a national reputation, the organization was criticized by some for its efforts during the last election.

Said Baggott,  "I’m  . . .  raring to get started leading this extraordinary team of organizers to do democracy’s most critical work – building a great world for the next generation and developing great people to lead it.”
