This city’s got a lot of pride. It had less pride last year when something happened and shut down the entire world, canceling the annual Pride celebration in downtown. But Pride is back. Have I said the word “pride” enough?

Jankowki helped write this week’s cover story, and this interview has it all: a little behind-the-scenes report on what went into making pf this article. A touch of insider recs on the hottest queer spots in town. A dash of our patented “we’re outsiders on a topic so let me play devil’s advocate and ask a few questions that for some reason our guests are incredibly respectful in answering” vibe. It’s a show, for sure.

On the back half of our show, we talk to WW reporter Tess Riski about her regularly updated “Hunzeker Watch”—which counts the days since Portland Police Association president Brian Hunzeker resigned cryptically, citing a “mistake” around the leak of an inaccurate report about City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty to the media. Tess wants answers, and I want answers for the sake of Tess because, man, she wants to get to the bottom of this. Talking to her about it made me want to get out a magnifying glass and go all Nancy Drew on this mystery.
