John Vanderslice's Favorite Web-Browser Games

Chain Factor, chainfactor.com

A wily mix of Tetris and Backgammon, numbered discs fall from the sky and you must drop them in just the right place or YOU WILL DIE. I had to stop playing, as the game seriously haunted my sleep.

Dino Run, pixeljam.com/dinorun/

You're a baby dinosaur trying to survive after an asteroid pummels the Earth. This pixelated, super-low-fi game is charming and terrifying.

Kingdom of Loathing, kingdomofloathing.com/

An elegant and simple multiplayer RPG, it's heavy on text and stick figures. What's not to love about that? More than 100,000 active users.

Tower of Moai, skt-products.com/contents/moainosu.html

The game is very simple: Players are required to move the mouse pointer over as many Moai statues as they possibly can before time runs out. No problem, right? Just try to stop.

Grow, eyezmaze.com/grow/v3.index.html

You drag items onto a sphere, they grow in size as the game goes on, and every decision becomes more and more important downstream as you run out of room. Ridiculous music loops over and over. Maddening!!
