Scrooge McPge
You wrote last week that "PGE is spreading $37 million worth of holiday cheer" (with help from the Utility Reform Project) [Murmurs, WW, Dec. 9, 2009] in the form of refund checks because of overcharges on the Trojan nuclear power plant."
PGE has been adamantly opposing any refund to ratepayers for its illegal profits on the closed Trojan plant since 1993 (when it closed). Linda Williams and I have been fighting to get back what PGE rightfully owes to ratepayers, which is over $500 million. After 17 years of litigation and numerous wins in court, we finally got the Oregon Public Utility Commission to order the $37 million refund. But we remain in court seeking to get back the rest of the illegal charges.

Chief Sizer Is All About Chief Sizer
The notion that Chief Sizer is widely supported by the community is news to me ["Sizer Matters," WW, Dec. 9, 2009]. Her repeatedly heavy-handed attempts over several years to close the North Portland Police Precinct in the face of strong resident opposition won her no fans in my neck of the woods (St. Johns).
Her ultimate success in doing so came only after she excluded community members' input from the process and instead secured what appeared to be a backdoor agreement with her cronies, Commissioner [Dan] Saltzman and Mayor [Sam] Adams. Chief Sizer is all about Chief Sizer, and my community members and the neighborhood officers who protect us are well aware of this fact.
