WWJD: Portland Getting its First Church-Affiliated Brewery

If church-affiliated pub gets a 20 barrel system, it'll be a big one, too.

What would Jesus drink?

Probably an IPA, right?

Well, we'll find out soon as Portland expects to get its first church-affiliated brewery: The Oregon Public House is officially launching an effort to become a brewpub.

The nation's first nonprofit pub opened amid some controversy back in 2013 because some people weren't happy to see the city give $50,000 in grants to a church-affiliated bar.

a very nice little bar

(Worth noting: The bar denies being affiliated with the church but one of three principals of the bar is the pastor of a Foursquare church that meets above the bar, and the church's website says they are "in partnership.")

Now, Oregon Pubic Public House [Ed: sorry!] has taken to Kickstarter to raise $36,400 for a 20-barrel system and the purchase of 24 kegs.

"a coppery IPA with a little toffee and a lingering bitterness."
