3607 SW Corbett Ave., 503-719-7215, cannaandthecity.com. 10 am-8 pm Monday-Saturday, 11 am-6 pm Sunday.

Canna and the City opened only six months ago, but is already the go-to spot in the shiny glass area calling itself South Portland. The dispensary stands across the street from upscale Corbett row houses, and the lobby feels oddly like the office of a property management company, with a bowl of candy on the table, fresh flowers, plushy chairs and a blue-haired receptionist. The 30 strains come from small farms like Sons of Agronomy, Cascade Gardens and Forever Dank; the owner's goal is to inspire brand loyalty, instead of people passively smoking strains. When a new strain comes in, the budtenders rate it on a scale of 0 to 50—anything under 33 doesn't get sold. One gram ranges from $13 to $17.
