The Velvet Rope Has Removed the City's Most Amazing Promo Video

"It was never meant to remain on Youtube."

The Velvet Rope—Southeast Portland's premier swinger's club, which is conveniently located next to Safeway—has taken down a promo video they posted three years ago, after two WW articles have brought "negative attention" to the club.

On Wednesday, WW spoke with Quinn Allan, the man who starred in the promo. He spoke candidly about the experience, saying the club was "creepy."

Today, filmmaker Westley Cornwell reached out to WW to inform us that the Velvet Rope has taken down the video.

"Unfortunately, it seems like that may be the last of the video. I talked to Matt through owner just a few minutes ago and they decided to take it down because they were getting too much negative feedback. Quinn's interview didn't help either," Cornwell wrote in an email. "I wanted to make something people could laugh at and I believe that mission was accomplished."

Matt Jester, who owns the club, says the video is not a good representation of what the club us like.

"It was never meant to remain on Youtube," he said, explaining that Cornwell uploaded it to Youtube to show him the finished product.

"There's been a bunch of improvements," Jester says. "In all honesty, it wasn't a point in my focus until it started blowing up, so I decided to take it down and that's my prerogative to do so."

He says he will release an official statement soon.

This, sadly, is not the first Portland promo video involving an adorable couple to be removed after a deluge of negative comments from haterade-drunk locals. Who could forget Portland's Sweethearts, Luke and Jess?

In lieu of the awesome Velvet Rope video, y'all haters please enjoy this.
