Chronicling roadside Americana that technically is on the road, Automorphosis extends out of director Harrod Blank's hobby of adorning his own Volkswagen Beetle with plaster chickens and a spinning globe. He sought out people who shared this itch, and naturally encountered some eccentrics: A man whose moped is shaped like a giant hamburger, for example. This is not a work of profound sociology; it is a movie with two different people who have nailed hundreds of spoons to their cars. I found it delightful. Clinton Street Theater. Friday and Monday-Thursday, June 25 and June 28-July 1. Harrod Blank will attend the Friday show.
