After spicy success vending their east African fare at local markets and festivals, Horn of Africa owners Mohamed and Kahadija Yousuf opened this space in 1994. Since then, Northeast residents and others can't seem to get enough of Kahadija's aromatic lamb curry foon hoolaa hurdii ($12.99 at dinner), garlicky chicken thighs (lukkuu akhaawi, $10.95) or fried sambusas ($3.50), impossibly toothsome fried turnovers stuffed with fresh white chicken, scallions and a melange of African spices. You can even stock your larder by shopping for hard-to-find specialty foods and spices at the couple's adjacent market while you wait. (TD)
