Cheap Eats 2009

A former Multnomah County Library branch is the odd setting for this bakery and cafe that's become a popular meeting place for parent groups and families with kids (there's a small play area within any parent's line of sight). The food is tastier than the locale. Market vegetable soup ($4-$5.75) makes a fine vegan starter. Move on to the sandwich offerings, all served with garnishes of potato and fruit, and pick a salad of either tasty house-roasted chicken ($7.50) or the filling albacore tuna ($6.50). One final note makes this eatery worth bookmarking: When we were inadvertently overcharged $1.25, staff returned the money without prompting.
