Is there anything better than a banh mi sandwich? For anyone who's not yet a convert, grab a couple dollars, head out to this unassuming sammie shop at the end of a strip mall containing a hair stylist and a misplaced pub, and order one of the delicious banh mis. For just $2.50, you get a fresh-baked, flaky rice-flour baguette filled with pickled daikon and carrot, mayo and a choice of meats (or bean paste for the vegetarian set) that ranges from sweet barbecue pork to chicken and even sardines. Buy just two of these guys and an iced coffee and you have the best $8 lunch ever.
