Even as Mississippi Pizza sailed from emblem of
shambling-collegiate quasi-gentrification to neighborhood mainstay, its
back bar remains, blessedly, an afterthought. Only discoverable upon
wading through the ever-bustling pizzeria and traversing the depths of
the adjacent venue—an eclectic host for up 'n' coming combos, niche
genre acts, and bingo/spelling bee diversions—the Atlantis exists as a
Fiddler's Green for the weary tippler. Cultivating a time-swept
atmosphere of enlightened kitsch and craft cocktails, the
maritime-themed lounge operates at an altogether different frequency
from surrounding environs, but there are few more enviable spots along
the avenue for a brief dip or, should the bluegrass troupe have started
while carb-craving hordes crowd the entryway, perhaps an evening's
cruise.
Happy hour: 5-6 pm daily. $1 off wells.
