Bar Guide 2015: The Eagle Eye Tavern

5836 SE 92nd Ave., 774-2141. 2 pm-2 am daily.

Erin Wagner's first move is simple: Rip out the video poker. Then put in good beer taps. Twice now—first with 82nd Avenue's Lion's Eye—she's taken a sad, alcoholic dive and made it into a serviceable, community-oriented hangout, really Lents' sole version of this. (The New Copper Penny is its own form of community, of course.) Sure, it's kind of like a bright-painted rec room, with a Tuaca-sponsored pool table, foosball, darts and a boxing machine-plus a makeshift stage with ever-on TVs tuned to snow. But with taps such as Buoy IPA and Portland passionfruit cider, an honest-to-God cheese list of the day, and local comedy shows, it's the best little bar anywhere near, with an already loyal clientele who know each other by name.

Entertainment: Pool, foos, boxing game, comedy, karaoke.
