Iraq: Paying Our Share

Last night's State of the Union—with its promises of balanced budgets (soon) and victory in Iraq (soonish) and triumph in the War on Terror (someday)—may have you wondering about the State of Your Tax Dollars. The National Priorities Project just released an updated state-by-state breakdown of the cost of the Iraq war.

Oregon's share of the $378 billion is $3 billion. The estimated cost to Portlanders is $461.9 million. That's equal to about one-sixth of the City of Portland's annual budget.
