Obnoxious costumes, worse weather and delicious chicken noodle soup are in the forecast for this year's most unpredictable charity event.

On February 11th The Worst Day of the Year Ride, which hosted over 1500 fearless participants in 2006, will again give cyclers the opportunity to shake their fists in defiance of the elements. Riders braving February's often-furious weather will pedal an 18-mile urban route or a 40-mile “challenge loop” in order to raise money for the Community Cycling Center, which supports bicycle programs for low-income youth.

Come rain or shine, riders—who have been encouraged to wear costumes and decorate their bikes—will meet at the Lucky Labrador on Southeast Madison and Ninth Avenue in Portland to beat their chests, meditate and otherwise prepare for their grueling task.
