It has been about 15 months since it was announced that Logan Lynn would sign to the Dandy Warhols' Beat the World label
. A potential big move for both Lynn and the Dandies, we felt. Well, yesterday the Portland electro-pop artist released the first sneak previews over on his MySpace page
(which is where these things generally happen), and at his own website
, where you can listen in hi-fi. The album, From Pillar to Post
, should see the light of day in "A FEW SHORT MONTHS," Lynn says in an all-caps blog update, which follows here:
SO, WE FINALLY FINISHED MY NEW RECORD AFTER NEARLY 2 YEARS IN THE STUDIO AND THINGS HAVE TURNED OUT PRETTY SPECTACULAR (THANKS TO MY PRODUCER CARLOS CORTES, MY ENGINEER JEREMY SHERRER AND THE DANDY WARHOLS FOR BELIEVING IN OUR PROJECT FROM THE GET-GO AND GIVING US THEIR STUDIO TO MAKE OURSELVES AT HOME IN DURING THE COURSE OF MAKING THIS MONSTER RECORD.) WITHOUT ANY ONE OF THOSE ELEMENTS I JUST LISTED IT WOULDN'T HAVE WORKED OUT LIKE IT HAS, SO......HELL YES. THAT'S REALLY ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT.
CARLOS AND I DECIDED THAT, SINCE WE HAVE RELEASED VERSIONS OF THESE TWO SONGS PREVIOUSLY, WE WOULD GO AHEAD AND POST THE ALBUM VERSIONS OF "BURNING YOUR GLORY" AND "FEED ME TO THE WOLVES" WHICH WE DECIDED TO REMAKE FOR "FROM PILLAR TO POST". YOU HAVE HEARD THESE TWO BEFORE, BUT NOT LIKE THIS!!!
(INSERT MANIACAL LAUGHTER HERE).
SO...HERE'S YOUR SNEAK PEEK AT WHAT'S COMING AT YOU IN A FEW SHORT MONTHS.
CAN I GET A HELL YES?
The new tunes have some Postal Service steez (not a bad thing...that was a working formula and no one ever really followed up on it, you know?), and sound fittingly detailed for having gestated in the Odditorium for two years. We're looking forward to hearing the whole enchilada. Sorry, I'm in Texas. I have Mexican food on the brain.
