If Bob the Builder wants a new theme song, I think he's found one in Fuck You Safari's "Building Song." If the early learning television program ever wanted to be cutting edge and retain its viewers as they age, then they couldn't go wrong with this one. Sounds like a winning plan!
As for the track itself, it sounds like the calamity and chaos one might find on a building site full of elevated tension. The guitar chords and dueling shouts by co-vocalists and guitarists Leif Anders and Magic Johnson's Mando Blanco play right into that intensity. It's a grand back and forth as the pair trade lyrics of "I'm building a bridge" and "I'm a builder, I'm a builder"—an exchange you could imagine coming from competing egos or just someone simply trying to convince themselves that they're capable of the task at hand. Meanwhile drummer Beren Huett—also of the Intelligence—keeps the action tight with a speedy beat, using the cymbals at just the right moments for a little extra thrash. By the end, the shadow of anxiety hovers overhead as the three musicians, through concise interplay and rhythm, have literally built something themselves.
