Well, how about this for a Tuesday surprise: Danielle Sullivan, Thomas Himes, and Clayton Knapp of beloved (and, sadly, inactive) local indie poppers Eskimo & Sons have a new band. And website. And five song EP, You're a Winner, that you can download for free. And a video that answers the question "What if Bjork's 'Joga' video was made using Windows 95?" The new group—who call itself "Wild Ones"—started in the fall of 2009 as a collaborative project between Sullivan (vocals) and Himes (keyboards) before expanding into a full-on band with the addition of Knapp on bass and Guidance Counselor's Andy Parker on drums.
I've heard rumors about this secret for a while now, but I had no idea that it would debut as as such an expansive project. The website and video for the mostly-instrumental "Pacific" were created by artist Calvin Waterman, and the blocky, computerized graphics (N64 for life!) are a good fit for the band's bouncy synth pop. Boy, it's good to hear Sullivan singing on stuff again. No word on any Wild Ones live dates just yet, but we'll keep you updated.
