The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art has hired Angela Mattox as its new resident artistic director. The organization, which produces the annual Time Based Art festival, has had guest curators—first Mark Russell of the Public Theater, then Cathy Edwards of New Haven, Conn.'s International Festival of Arts & Ideas—since its founding artistic director, Kristy Edmunds, left to run the Melbourne International Arts Festival. Mattox comes to Portland from San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, where she has been Performing Arts Curator since 2003.
