Oregonian newsroom employees were handed laminated cards this week with the paper's 2013 "strategic initiatives."
The wallet-sized handouts, which some O tipster sent to Jim Romenesko's media blog, are full of enough corporate speak to make any self-respecting wordsmith do a face palm.
One gem: "Optimize customer experiences across platforms to strengthen our brand."
The initiatives—which also ask employees to "strengthen our financial performance"—set the tone for a year during which
many think publisher Advance Publications, Inc., will cut the daily to three days a week.
“Note," wrote the tipster, "nothing about holding
government accountable, informing the public, comforting the afflicted,
etc.”
Romenesko quipped: "At least it doesn't say double our page views."
