The University of Oregon announced this morning that LeGarrette Blount will be
reinstated for this Saturday's game against Arizona State University.
As I've
opined before, I think this is the right —albeit belated— move for coach Chip Kelly to make since the
original season-long punishment was too harsh. And it also makes sense to bring Blount back for a home game before what will likely be an empathetic Autzen Stadium crowd rather than at last Saturday's road game at Stanford.
Given how well freshman
LaMichael James has carried the ball in Blount's absence (and assuming James wasn't seriously hurt when he fell to the turf in the fourth quarter of the Stanford game after dropping a pass), it's hard to imagine Blount will get a lot of carries against the Sun Devils. But Blount will have fresh legs after not taking any game pounding, so I'm expecting him to be in the rotation. And yes, I'm damn curious to see how he does.
