Headquarters Hotel Proponents Go On PR Offensive

A Multnomah County Court judge will hear arguments next week over whether opponents of the proposed $200 million Hyatt Hotel adjacent to the Oregon Convention Center can refer Multnomah County's vote to move forward with the project to this year's ballot.

Meanwhile, supporters of the project, which relies on $80 million in public subsides, have launched a counteroffensive, putting up a slick, 27-slide website extolling the virtues of building the hotel.

The website says it is "owned and developed by Restaurant, Hotel and Hospitality workers (sic)."

An organizer for Unite Here!, the union that won a labor agreement for the prospective Hyatt, did not return a call seeking comment.   owned and
