It seems half of the city shut down last weekend due to the
, but that weather didnât stop the Modern Quilt Guildâs SewDownfrom taking place. On Friday, Feb. 7, dozens of women gathered at the Nines to participate in an weekend-long quilting convention, taking workshops to learn how to cut new shapes and make shooting-star designs.
According to Modern Quilt Guild's Heather Grant, quilting has transformed itself in the last decade thanks to to social media, new local shops and crafters in communities around the globe. Portland, unsurprisingly, has participated in this boom.
