â There will be only one mystery on Friday at Refuge: Can the sound system handle South London dubstep duo Mala and Cokiâs sub-bass? I2013âs â2 Much Chatâ doesnât nearly live up to mid-aughts classics like Malaâs âBury The Bwoiâ or Cokiâs âNightâ (I just went there, sorry), but these two are dubstep pioneers. Pay your respects by paying your admission to the dustyâbut certainly still busyâMuseum of Wobble. (9 pm, $12, 21+)
â Funky house can be tough to do rightâbalancing a four-on-the-floor genre with funkâs oft-complicated grooveâbut local producer and DJ Clay Watkins has it down pat. âPut That On,â recently released on Canadaâs Caboose Records, is a jacking, vocal funk explosion. On Friday at the Roseâs Trifecta party, heâs joined by tech-house producer Mason Fisher and resident DJ Wiggles. (9 pm, $3, 21+)
â Just because it happens every month doesnât mean itâs not worth recommending. Go and get your 2 Pac (or Biggie!) on at Booty Bassment, Saturday at Holocene. (9 pm, $10, 21+)
