Rosemary Lee, who was once married to Gov. John Kitzhaber, died last week.

An obituary in The Oregonian says that Lee, 67, died peacefully at her home in Lake Oswego from a brain tumor.

Kitzhaber met Lee in the early 1970s when he was a medical student at OHSU. The two married in 1971 and moved to Denver, where he did an internship. They divorced after that, in 1974, having had no children. Lee worked as a teacher in the Reynolds School District.

Kitzhaber later married Sharon LaCroix in 1995, shortly before taking officer as governor for the first time. The couple, who have one son, filed for divorce in 2003.
