Portland's Willamette riverscape is slotted to get its first major bridge makeover in 36 years. And beginning this Tuesday through the rest of this month, the public may check it out by going to City Hall to view a model of the stylish upgrade.
The
Architecture Foundation of Oregon, the Portland Chapter of the
American Institute of Architects and Portland
Spaces Magazine are presenting the model for the new Portland to Milwaukie MAX line bridge at 6 PM on April 7, followed by a reception and lecture by the bridge architect, Manuel Rosales..
The bridge, which is touted as the country's first pedestrian/bike/transit only bridge, was
picked from 10 potential bridge types by the Willamette Bridge Advisory Group and is a unique hybrid of cable stay and suspension types.
A previous version of this story used an image that was not a design considered for this bridge.
