Layin' Down the LAW: Ladies of Arm Wrestling

lawB-Side Tavern will be holding its 4th annual Ladies of Arm Wrestling championship this Sunday.

Every year, the Lower Burnside bar packs out as women from all walks of life bring out their big guns in a single-elimination battle of the biceps.

"Watching woman quarrel and grunt is fun!" says B-Side co-owner Joel Denton. "Last year, my neurologist entered as 'Doctor Destructo.' My girlfriend Julie is 'Jewel of the Knuckle'. And Heidi, who owns the local pet food store Meat, is entering for the fourth year as 'The Meat Grinder'."

As an added bonus, pre-match entertainment will be provided by none other than Denton's and his girlfriend's moms.

"I've met my girlfriend's family and she's met mine, but Sunday will be 'The Meeting of the Moms!' My mother and my girlfriend's mother will be meeting to compete. It will be a hoot!"

Contestants can sign up at 5 pm, and the competition kicks off at 6 pm Sunday, July 10. Entry costs $5, with all proceeds going to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Portland. B-Side Tavern: 632 East Burnside Street.
