Ted Wheeler Grabs Sam Adams, Tom Potter, Vera Katz Endorsements

The announcement is a boost to Wheeler's 2016 campaign for Portland mayor.

Oregon Treasurer Ted Wheeler today announced he'd claimed endorsements from former Portland mayors Sam Adams, Tom Potter and Vera Katz in his 2016 campaign against incumbent Mayor Charlie Hales.

The threefer is noteworthy for a couple of reasons.

Katz endorsed Hales in his 2012 election against businesswoman Eileen Brady and then-state Rep. Jefferson Smith.

And Adams, who was leaving office after just one term in 2012, stayed out of the previous election, declining to endorse anyone.

Noticeably absent from the list of Wheeler supporters is former Mayor Bud Clark, who endorsed Hales in 2012.

We'll update this post when we hear from the former mayors.
