Dog Town

2880 SE Division St., 971-232-1232, dogtownfoodcart.com. Dinner Monday, lunch and dinner Tuesday and Thursday-Saturday, lunch Sunday and Wednesday.

The best dog at Dog Town—a Lamborghini lamb sausage with pickled onions and sweet chili sauce on naan bread—goes almost too far afield to even be called a dog anymore. It's like the promise of the shawarma redeemed, except somehow on Indian bread with vaguely Thai sauce. If you're a traditionalist, you can still get a Zenner's sausage on a bun with some stuff on that. But the toppings might include the entire innards of a Philly cheesesteak, in a "Rocky Balboa" Frankenweenie that marries two textures of meat with gooey cheese for an addictive result—like a salchicha torta with carne asada.

Matthew Korfhage has lived in St. Louis, Chicago, Munich and Bordeaux, but comes from Portland, where he makes guides to the city and writes about food, booze and books. He likes the Oxford comma but can't use it in the newspaper.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office.
