Burnside Brewing

Between its extensive, off-the-wall lineup of seasonals and decor guaranteed to appease the expectations of tourists visiting a Real Portland Brewpub™, Burnside has maintained its status as a must-visit for nearly six years. It's helped along by antlers, open timbers and outdoorsy-looking antiques, plus a high-traffic location just a few blocks from the Burnside Bridge. To complement its enduringly popular IPA and throwback Couch Select Lager, Burnside has concoctions infused with everything from Earl Grey tea to galangal, pumpkin puree and pepitas. Not everything may to be everyone's taste—the Oregon Spray is blasted with cranberry and strawberry, and tastes exactly as it sounds—but it's good fun, especially when paired with the kitchen's legit comfort food that has undergone a recent and welcome upgrade, including chicken and waffles or cast-iron grits.

Happy hour: 3-6 pm daily. Food specials and changing daily drink deals. "Fermentation hour" beer specials 3-5 pm.

Entertainment: Patio drinking, impromptu beer/food pairings, tourist-spotting.

701 E Burnside St., 503-946-8151, burnsidebrewco.com. 11 am-10 pm Sunday-Tuesday, 11 am-11 pm Wednesday-Thursday, 11 am-midnight Friday-Saturday.
