Rogue Is Closing Beloved Green Dragon Pub, Ripping Down Distinctive Quonset Hut, Rebranding as "East Side Pub & Pilot Brewery"

They're getting rid of the hut.

Rogue is making, uh, big changes to the Green Dragon.

The Newport-based brewery has owned the Green Dragon since 2008. For the last eight years, they left it pretty much the same. Now, they're undergoing renovations to turn it into the Rogue East Side Pub & Pilot Brewery.

The new space—which we will not editorialize on until we see the results—is set to open by the week of Dec. 11.

"As the neighborhood and businesses have evolved over the last eight years, we decided the time was right to bring the full Rogue experience to the east side of Portland," Rogue writes.

What does "the full Rogue experience" look like?

More Rogue beer, booth seating and the removal of the back bar, for starters.

Here's a look at a flier they've published:

Rogue will keep 19 taps for "independent breweries." The menu will have Rogue fare, plus some items from the Green Dragon menu. They will continue to host special events like the Firkin Fest and Killer Pumpkin Fest, as well as keep the Green Dragon Founder Club and Brew Crew.

They will also remove the famous Green Dragon Quonset Hut for "new seating and landscaping." This renovation is set to be complete by February 2017.

We've reached out to Rogue for comment and will update this post when we hear back.
