Hawthorne Theatre Sold to California Buyer for $3 Million

"Absolutely nothing" will change about about the music at the venue, says the booker.

The building housing the Hawthorne Theatre music venue has sold to California investors for $3 million, the Portland Business Journal reported today. The sale went through in February.

The nearly hundred-year-old building—once a Masonic temple—has been host in more recent years to shows booked through longtime Portland booker Mike Thrasher Presents, along with now-shuttered (and much-missed) Szechuan spot Lucky Strike.

The Hawthorne building will now be owned by Pandion Investments LLC and young real estate investor Cyrus Etemad, who was in the news recently for buying and renovating (and hiking rents on) properties in Los Angeles.

The Hawthorne Theatre was not reachable for comment, but staff at the booking company of Mike Thrasher—who owns the music venue in the building—said emphatically that "as of this point, absolutely nothing will change in the booking of the Hawthorne Theatre."

Insane Clown Posse will play at the Hawthorne on May 31. Tickets are still available.
