Weird Al Stopped in Portland to Play a Piano

Weird Al played a weird piano in our weird city this afternoon.

Weird Al stopped in Portland today, on his way up to Seattle for his "The Return of the Mandatory" world tour. And he wore a cool hat! He's scheduled to play in Seattle tomorrow night before coming back down to Oregon to play at McMenamins Edgefield on Thursday.

He tweeted: "Free live outdoor concert in Portland today!" at 2:49 pm.

In the Twitter photo, he's playing a piano from local nonprofit piano rescuers Piano. Push. Play., an organization that takes old pianos and places them around Portland. Yankovic's piano—named Fiona, after Fiona Apple—was stationed outside of the Doug Fir, and was designed by local artist Ron Smith.

"This year's contribution entitled 'Heroes' is inspired by recently passed pop icons David Bowie and Prince. Featuring a glam-inspired David Bowie lightning bolt and purple Prince backgrounds, the piano is a tribute to two of Pop's most influential cultural icons," he writes in an artist's statement.

There are 20 Piano. Push. Play. pianos around the city. Catch 'em all here. It's easier than playing Pokémon Go.
