Bundyland has come to downtown Portland—to jail.
Anti-government militant Ammon Bundy and six of his followers who joined him in occupying a federal building in Harney County, Ore., were transferred to Multnomah County Jail last night following their arrest on a rural highway in Eastern Oregon.
"U.S. Marshals brought them up here to house for now," says Lt. Steve Alexander of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.
UPDATE, 12:11 pm: Ammon Bundy, and six fellow defendants will be arraigned at Portland's federal courthouse at 1:30 pm.
The prisoners brought to Multnomah County are:
* Ammon Edward Bundy, age 40, of Emmett, Idaho
* Ryan C. Bundy, age 43, of Bunkerville, Nevada
* Brian Cavalier, age 44, of Bunkerville, Nevada
* Shawna Cox, age 59, Kanab, Utah
* Ryan Waylen Payne, age 32, of Anaconda, Montana
* Joseph Donald O'Shaughnessy, age 45, of Cottonwood, Arizona
* Peter Santilli, age 50, of Cincinnati, Ohio
Federal officials have offered little information about the transfer, though it obviously moves the militants away from areas of Eastern Oregon where many sympathizers remain.
