Police Are Looking For Man Who Broke Into Pawn Shop With Tow Truck

Wannabe thief "hooked a tow cable up to the bars, and pulled the front of the business off."

Police are on the hunt for a man who used a novel approach to break into a Southeast Portland pawn shop early this morning.

The suspect "backed a full-sized flatbed tow truck up to the building, hooked a tow cable up to the bars, and pulled the front of the business off, including the windows and door," according to the Portland Police Bureau.

By the time police officers responded to a 2:17 a.m. alarm, the suspect had fled and the Money Market Pawn Shop was "heavily damaged," PPB says.

Peter Lim, the owner of Money Market Pawn, which is located at 13607 Southeast Powell Blvd., told WW that this is was the first time his shop had been broken into. "They were looking for something to grab," he said. "Luckily nothing was taken."
