Chloe Eudaly Formally Names Aide to Erik Sten as Campaign Manager

As Chloe Eudaly prepares to face Portland Commissioner Steve Novick in the November general election, she's putting together her campaign team.

And the person at the top of that team is a familiar name in Portland political circles.

Marshall Runkel, aide to former Portland Commissioner Erik Sten from 1996 to 2006, worked as a part-time consultant to Eudaly in the primary election but will move into a more formal role as campaign manager for the primary, he says.

Runkel is an experienced aide in Portland, having worked on campaigns for Sten, former Mayor Tom Potter and former Mayor Sam Adams when he ran for city commissioner.

Runkel says Eudaly will maintain her focus on issues of inadequate housing and wages in the coming months. One thing that will have to change is Eudaly's fundraising. She raised just $20,000, not including about $6,000 in in-kind donations, in the primary.

By comparison, Novick raised $368,000. He still has $25,000 in the bank.

He earned about 43 percent of the vote. In a crowded field of nine challengers, Eudaly won about 15 percent.
