Sharon Meieran Snags Endorsements of Former Opponents in Multnomah County Race

Brian Wilson, Mel Rader and Marisha Childs side with Meieran.

Sharon Meieran pulled in 42 percent of the vote in the May 17 primary election for Multnomah County Commissioner, under the 50 percent threshold, so she'll have to face second-place finisher, Eric Zimmerman, in the November runoff.

Monday, she's boasting about winning the endorsements of three vanquished opponents—Brian Wilson, Mel Rader and Marisha Childs—who together won 30 percent of the vote.

Zimmerman won 22 percent.

The Meieran-Zimmerman race will determine who wins the seat currently occupied by Commissioner Jules Bailey, who opted not to run for re-election so he could make a bid (unsuccessfully) for Portland mayor.

"I'm really proud to have their endorsements," Meieran says. "I thought they were all great candidates, and I appreciate the work that they do."
