New Audit Finds Fault With State Housing Agency

Oregon Department of Housing and Community Services has a lot of work to do.

The Oregon Secretary of State' today released a fairly negative audit of the Oregon Department of Housing and Community Services.

The truth is that until the past year or so when the state’s housing shortage became acute, OHCS was barely on governors’ or lawmakers’ radar screens. That’s in part because most of the agency’s activities are funded by federal dollars over which lawmakers have little or no control and the state contributes only about 1 percent of the agency’s budget.
