Hang Loose

It doesn't feel like Portland or Hawaii at Da'Hui (6504 SE Foster Road 477-7224). The Hawaiian-themed bar and restaurant—with its bright, kelly green walls, video-poker games flashing from the corner and barstools packed with plucky, cargo-short-wearing thirtysomethings—has more of a San Diego or Las Vegas vibe going on. Avoid the surly blond bartender and sit on the restaurant side, because you'll definitely want a plate of the cheap 'n' tasty yakisoba noodles (veggie and meat varieties starting at $4.50) to go with that $7 Hawaiian Punch cocktail (vodka, whiskey, triple sec and amaretto—it lives up to its namesake). Happy hour lasts all day until 7 pm, with $2.50 drafts and $3 wells; tall boys are $1.50 even during normal hours. Da'Hui is the name of an Oahu surfer gang committed to keeping their tourist-infested area real, and even they might hand it to this place for keeping the umbrellas out of its cocktails and the tikis out of its bar.
