Bright Lights, Big City

The name "Park Avenue" hints at a certain grandiosity—we know this from the Green Acres theme song—but the chunk of Southwest Park Avenue that hosts Brasserie Montmartre (626 SW Park Ave., 236-3036) has long been a nightmare of construction. Well, the clutter has largely cleared and a remixed Brasserie Montmartre has emerged victorious, with a chic urban charm that elicits thoughts of Mad Men (right down to the $9 Don Draper, a delectable cherry bourbon affair, and the indulgent $9 bowl of French onion soup, which contains more cheese and bread, perhaps, than onions—quite a good thing). The downstairs lounge is even more swank, especially when set to the tune of live jazz (playing all week long).
