Ambrosia for connoisseurs of '70s big-beastie pictures, The Food of the Gods has the broad acting and menagerie fixation of the era's Disney pictures, except it's trying to be a horror movie. Seeing it now is a sort of corrective to the current cinema of mockery: Bert I. Gordon's work is proof that a movie can be bad in every measurable way, yet remain utterly commanding.
