Cheap Eats 2005

Beaterville Cafe is like a giant car wreck-but in a good way. Vintage hubcaps and assorted car parts cover the walls inside like chrome scales, and the cafe's tantalizing breakfast menu shares the same kitschy automotive aesthetic. Regulars (and they are legion) go for the frittata-style omelettes or the Spudebaker ($6.75)-a scramble of red potatoes with fresh veggies and feta, cheddar or Swiss cheese. Beaterville is ultra-vegetarian-friendly, without being strictly meatless.
