Cheap Eats 2005

Mio Sushi is the kind of place where the staff greets regulars with "The usual?" when they walk in the door. But even first timers can appreciate Mio's reliable classics, from hearty miso soup ($1) to the plump Oregon rolls, stuffed with crab and asparagus and draped with salmon ($7.75). On a recent lunch visit, a grilled yakiniku dish delivered a hot helping of sesame-seasoned beef decorated with ample mounds of rice and green salad ($7.95). At lunchtime, bento combinations pack favorites-from plump gyoza and California or veggie rolls to tofu and teriyaki-into action-packed parcels ($8.50-$10.95). Now that's a real lunch box. (EF)
