Cheap Eats 2005

Grazie mille to Pat DiPrima for bringing this cozy Italian bakery and cafe to North Killingsworth Street. Her homemade stromboli ($5.25), fava-bean soup ($3-$4) and impossibly light Gorgonzola-garlic torta ($5.75) will satiate even the hungriest gondolier, while the pastries, homemade breads and cannoli ($3.25) remind you how great fresh Italian baking can be. Don't forget to join Pat after 9 am on the last Saturday of every month for a fresh zeppole (3 for $1), a sugar-dusted traditional Italian doughnut. Come early-they sell out fast. (TD)
