Cheap Eats 2010

ShenZhen might as well be Hostel for vegans: Upon entry, customers are greeted by roasted ducks hanging upside down and overcrowded tanks of fish waiting to be boiled. But for seriously authentic Chinese food, the 32-page menu boasting oddities like "Pepper With Pig's Rectum" ($8.95) and boiled geoduck (seasonally priced) is an adventure. Those lacking balls—or a taste for them—can get semi-adventurous on spicy kung pao squid ($8.95) or play it safe with crispy sesame chicken or fried shrimp, served as entrees or part of combo dinners ($6.95-$10.45). Just don't bring your PETA buddies.
