Cheap Eats 2008

This friendly old-school fixture skips the frills to focus on quick service of their flavorful fare. Their gyros plate ($9.25) is a sampling of what they do best: Tender, savory roasted meat and lip-smacking tzatziki, served with all the anticipated accoutrements. The moussaka portion ($5.25) is not as abundant as the price indicates but the taste is spot-on.  For the phyllo craving, start with the good-sized spanakopita ($3) and finish with a gooey chunk of baklava ($1.50). And indulge in a wander among Foti's grocery shelves – not only is it like a tiny museum for interesting graphic design but it's likely you'll discover an authentic goody intriguing enough to take home.
