The crowd at Cassidy’s changes with whatever show happens to be going on around the corner at the Crystal Ballroom. What hasn’t changed, it seems, since the 1940s (even though the place only opened in the late ’70s) is the atmosphere. With its dark-stained wood interior, low lighting and drinks with names like Jitterbug Perfume and the Great Gatsby, the vibe is very early-20th-century flapper—even though the only time you’re likely to see actual swing dancers in there is after a Cherry Poppin’ Daddies show.
