Bar Guide 2015: Saraveza

1004 N Killingsworth St., 206-4252, saraveza.com. 11 am-midnight daily.

How long does it take for a bar to qualify as an institution? Sarah Pederson's venerable beer pub (founded 2008) is lately taking on that patina. Vintage coolers are well-stocked with sought-after new releases, and fresh Russian River kegs abound. The event space in the back, the Bad Habit Room, lets the bar take on major fests like the Farmhouse and Wild Ale—one of the best festivals in the city, somehow stacking in the gnarliest beer geeks alongside pleasantly curious brew tourists. Alongside its nine well-curated craft taps, which rotate regularly, there is one beer that is always available: Hamm's. And there's free bacon every second Monday of the month. These are probably there for all those Packers fans that crowd the place on certain days, but amid a beer culture that's started to take itself all too seriously, that Midwestern beer bear comes on as a relief.

Happy Hour: 4-6 pm Monday-Friday. $1 off drafts, food specials.

Entertainment: Packers games.
