There is a reason why people always congregate in the
kitchen at parties, and the Tannery Bar is the embodiment of that
reason. The small, cinder block bunker in North Tabor belies its cozy
interior, which is split between a bar and open kitchen on one side and
long, communal tables on the other. An evening at the Tannery inevitably
feels like a casual dinner party at your friend's home—the one who
likes to cure his own meats and has the impressively stocked bar and
record collection. Cocktail offerings range from the classic, like the
perfectly ginger-sweet Moscow Mule, to the tongue-in-cheek Lucille Two
(genever, red wine reduction, lemon, cava). Browse the LP collection
with the Bowie combo (that would be a shot of Rebel Yell and a Rebel
lager), nibble on some Olympia Provisions mortadella corn dogs and know
that you'll always be invited back.
Happy hour: 4-6 pm Monday-Saturday. $2 Rainier, $4 select drafts, $5 house wine, $5 plates.
Entertainment: Intimate, lamp-lit conversation; record player.
