Offering no advance notice and mere seconds to respond, we’re asking City Hall candidates one question each week to test their Portland IQ. (Candidate Chris Smith said he’d been studying since last week’s inaugural quiz.) We put this week’s question to Smith and the other candidates for Commissioner Sam Adams’ seat:

How much is a monthly TriMet pass for adults?

(Answer: $76 for an adult all-zone pass; $65 for a two-zone pass; $23 for “honored citizens,” i.e., seniors or people on Medicare or with disabilities; and $48 for LIFT passes for the disabled.)

Funny, funny, funny. At 72 am capable of getting the Honored Citizen pass, which I like. However this pass can be had from some junkie or wino for $5, almost anywhere in downtown Portland. Makes me wonder just how honored they are for the life accomplishment.
